Four-day holiday causes six hour traffic snarl on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Queues extending upto 6 km?? Damn!! As if Mumbaikars didn't have enough of frustration in the last week, they have to wait in line for 6 hours for paying a toll, something over which they are already too frustrated. Political parties in Mumbai must do something about this!! Is this what a fellow Mumbaikar, a citizen of one of the most productive city in India, going for a 4 day trip starting on the Independence day, deserves?? People of Mumbai are one of the most patriotic citizens of this country. Is this how country repays a Mumbaikar?Who is going to take the responsibility of the frustration caused to all those people?
Keeping sarcasm aside, this news might not have that much importance. But, This depicts what independence day means for the majority of the population in India. Indians patriotism is the main question here. It is often only limited to very superficial things that don't really matter, like protesting to make a museum in the old navy ship which government is selling in scrap or protesting against making an Indian Tennis player who married a Pakistani, the brand ambassador of a certain state.
Indians are very self-centered people, or more accurately self-family-centered. They don't go ahead of that and think what they are doing for their society, their country and more importantly, what they are doing for humanity. Indians have extraordinary talent but what they don't have is extraordinary goals. They have very low, ordinary goals like being a doctor of engineer, getting a decent job, marrying and having kids. That's all there is to life. ( That's why they run blindly behind IITs,IIMs,UPSC,etc.)That's a life formula for a large no. of Indians. They don't want to do anything big.
This is the problem of the way of upbringing of Indian children. Children, naturally have big dreams but their parents and overall society succeeds in crushing those dreams down, and inputting the famous formula into them. But the parents can't be blamed much. Most of them are middle class and they expect their children to live better lives than they did. The problem is that they want assurance of their children's future. They don't want their children to risk their future in any way. That's why India is lagging behind when it comes to entrepreneurship. That's why all the Indians take up all the good jobs in Multi-national companies, but they never start one. There is nothing wrong in working for a foreign based MNC, what is wrong is that there are almost no India based MNCs(very few exceptions). This mentality is also the reason they don't want to do anything worthwhile for their country. This is why India is still a Third world country, even after 68 years of independence.
But when I blame Indians for not doing anything for their country, I cannot overlook the fact that I am one. And I must also think what I am doing for my country. While, I also want to get into an IIT, I don't want to get a job abroad with 5 digit salary on the basis of my IIT degree. I aspire to be a scientist and IITs are primarily made for encouraging scientific research.(I would appreciate a 5 digit salary for being a scientist and doing something that will benefit the whole humanity as well as make my country proud)
Secondly, I am writing this blog wasting a significant amount of time which I could've otherwise.used to secure my future, and that too, for what? Absolutely nothing! It is read by a very small number of people which is continuously decreasing. Still, I feel that I can create some awareness in my country, in this world and even if one person's views about these things change after reading my blog, That would be a significant contribution to my country on this Independence day!!
