Why we should reduce our CO2 emissions

Climate change has been in news and has become a topic of debate recently. But what I don't understand is that how can you debate over what is fact. Science has proven again and again that not only global warming is happening, it is happening because of CO2 emissions for which we are responsible. If you are still against it this is a video you must watch.

The idiot republicans would probably get more public attention if they agree that climate change is happening. After that they are free to say that we should not do anything about it.(in order to protect their financial interests ofcourse) This can be a topic of debate. Should we really do anything about climate change? Should we reduce our CO2 emission?

Debating over this question still is like debating over whether or not we should kill ourselves for absolutely no reason. Because if we do not do anything about global warming it might as well be a reason for extinction of humanity. If not extinction, it would still be a reason for major loss of life. Global warming is not just any small problem, as name suggests, it's global, it affects all of us.

If we have to stop or reduce global warming, we have to take a one major step. That is reducing our consumption of fossil fuels as  burning fossil fuels cause CO2 emissions. Now these fossil fuels are limited they are not as abundant as solar, wind or any other form of energy. What happens if we don't reduce our fossil fuel usage? Our usage will increase exponentially with population and we would run out of fossil fuels. At that time we would not have any fossil fuels to burn, we would produce no carbon dioxide and thus there won't be any further global warming. So in a way the problem would solve itself.

Awesome, right? A problem that solves itself! Yet our governments are making it a big issue, are they idiots?
No, they are not. And no problem solves itself, not without doing any damage. Life is not that simple.
The problem is that running out of fossil fuels would send us back to the stone age!!

We are largely dependant on fossil fuels. More than 70 % of our electricity is produced by burning fossil fuels. And we are almost completely dependant on internal combustion engines for our transportation (which of course burn fossil fuels) when we start running out of  fossil fuels, world will be in absolute chaos. In many parts of the modern world there will be almost no electricity (by modern world I mean the part of world which has basic infrastructure and technology). Even in developed countries it will be supplied only for few hours. That's not the biggest problem though. The biggest problem will be the transportation. We won't have any modes of transportation. That means there won't be any grocery available at your nearest store. How can we live without fulfilling our basic needs like food, electricity? We can't, and that's why we will be in the state of absolute chaos. World Wars will be fought for the remaining oil supplys. And with lack of oil they would definitely be nuclear wars. In the worst case, humanity may suffer extinction. That is how not doing anything about global warming can  lead to our extinction.

To possibly prevent or to reduce the severity of the fossil fuel problem, we have to reduce our fossil fuel dependence and start relying on renewable energy sources like solar energy, wind energy, etc. And we have currently started doing this in order to react to global warming. So by trying to reduce global warming we are actually solving a problem which we would otherwise face in the future. If we continue to try to reduce global warming by reducing CO2 emissions we would one day be completely independent of fossil fuels and would still have some in our oil rigs which we would use as rocket fuel for space travel. Thats the future we all want to see, not the one where we fight nuclear wars for oil.
And that is why we should reduce our CO2 emissions, regardless of the fact that it causes global warming.
