God and Morality

One of the least asked but most discussed questions of the human history is  'does the god exist?' with the two clearly defined groups - theists and atheists- one always chooses to be either of them. Which is acceptable because everyone has a right to have their own opinions.

But is it really something we must have an opinion about ?
No, whether the god exists or doesn't has really nothing to do in our day to day life other than the expression 'OMG'.
If god does not exist, it anyway doesn't affect us. But even if it does, it really doesn't matter. There can be a discussion on existence of god, but there can't be a discussion about whether  praying god for having good marks, really helps. Because it just doesn't. Existence of god hardly makes any difference. If someone survives a deadly car accident without a scratch, they like to say that god saved them. Even in such situations there is always a logical explanation as to why they didn't get hurt. God doesn't play a role.
Wait, but if God really doesn't make any difference why do people believe in god? There is a one thing where god does make a difference. And that is to get away with your guilty feeling that comes with your sins. Lets take an example of a corrupt politician who has taken money from a oil giant to oppose global warming and to prevent government from taking steps to reduce CO2 emissions and carefully hidden all the evidences in order to not get in trouble. But deep down in his heart he knows that he is playing with the future of his own children. If he is an atheist, he can't have a good nights sleep knowing that he is doing something so wrong. If he is a theist, he is sure that god will forgive him if he donates a good amount of money, which is not even comparable with what he took as bribe, to the charity for disabled children. This is why people believe in god.
I think that the concept of god was invented to stop people, who do not fear the law, from doing wrong, immoral things by imposing a fear that they will go to hell if they behave immorally. This fear of god really was  a useful tool in order to maintain stability and peace in any society, until some mastermind invented the concept that god also forgives. This made people think that they can do any immoral thing which doesn't violate the law and get away with it.  It was convenient for them because they no longer had to take responsibility of their bad deeds. That is what resulted in decreased morality.
It is really sad that we need to impose fear inside people in order to make them behave morally. It is a failure of our education system, which teaches us that earth moves around sun, but doesn't teach us morality. To an ideal person, it doesn't matter whether the god exists or not. It is in our hands to make a ideal society, filled with such ideal people. We can do it by improving our education system.
Lets create a moral world!! Lets hope for a tomorrow where people believe in themselves rather than these stupid old ideas of the last millennium!!
