This one started with three Israeli boys being kidnapped and killed in Gaza. Israeli forces involved in finding these boys killed 10 Palestinians during the search of them. This so quickly escalated to both sides, Israel and Gaza, launching missiles on each other with death toll continuously rising. People who are dying probably had nothing to do with it.

If Israel manages to gun down missiles before they hit the target, Sure that would be called "protecting itself". It is managing to do so. It's Iron Dome anti-missile defence system shots down 90% of the missiles successfully. So basically its already protecting itself. This also explains why there have been only 2 deaths in Israel despite the number of rockets launched on them being 1297.

But when I criticize Israel, I don't mean to say that Palestinians are all innocent. They are also equally responsible for the conflict and the deaths that are caused. If a person fires a bullet at you and just because you are wearing a full body armor, doesn't mean you should let him fire as many bullets as he wants. That person must be punished. That's what Israel is doing, but in a wrong way. Palestinians are the one who started this recent war. They have done horrible things like hiding missiles and weapons among civilian places like schools, hospitals, etc. Hamas knows what enemy they are facing, they also know that in this fight they are always going to suffer more. Yet, they are interested in keeping the flame of hate burning inside it's fellow Palestinians rather than trying to negotiate with Israel and solving the matters peacefully. It would only benefit them. But on the other hand, Israeli leadership is aggressive. It should also co-operate in negotiating the matters.
This seems really too much to expect from both the sides, looking at their current attitudes. To stop this conflict, both sides should first remove hatred about the other sides that has it roots in religious conflict. Which is also very unlikely to happen in current scenario.
Well all we can do now is to hope that this deadly war will soon end.
I remember Gandhi's saying, 'An eye for an eye always turns the whole world blind'. Both Israel and Palestinians should understand this and stop the war.
