Importance of Education

Education is important in any society. It is perhaps the most important thing our governments should be focusing on. Because if there is anything that can be a solution to all the problems in the world, it is education. You can take almost any problem and at the root of that problem will be the failure of education system.
For example, corruption. Corruption is a result of decreased morality in people. Morality should be inculcated in children through education system. That doesn't happen, which leads to problems such as corruption, violent crimes, etc.
What is the current state of our education systems?
In India, as I said in the last post, education system doesn't work towards converting children into mature responsible adults. It trys to get them jobs. But it also fails in that according to me. Our schools conduct tests which does not test what we learnt, but they test what we remember. I can guarantee that no person in my class remembers anything they learnt last year. Because they didn't learn anything, they just remembered whatever was in the textbook, scribbled it down on the paper and passed the tests. They didn't care to learn. This system is not knowledge based it is information based. In India, it is hard for an engineer to get a job unless he is from IIT, or he has huge job experience. It is an indicator of degradation of education system. Blaming only education system for jobless engineers won't be fair but engineers and doctors also, have lost their status in society they used to hold few years back and that's because , today anybody can become an engineer from one of the numerous colleges opened by politicians by making a 'donation' of a big amount. Indian education system is now not only failing in making good humans, but it is also failing in making people worthy of doing jobs.
Talking of morality,We were  taught a few lessons and stories which were about morality. But none of us gave much thought to those lessons. We did not feel that this is a very important thing or value, and we must imply it in our lives. It was a failed attempt of teaching us morals. Another significant failed attempt was made by our religion by inducing a fear of god. The only source of learning any morality was our parents.

Although I live in India and I'm not that much aware about education system in US, but I do have enough information to criticize it.
Really? This is what is being taught to children in the most innovative, scientifically advanced nation in the world ? This is the most serious issue ahead of US right now. Yes, Indian education system is ridiculous, but we at least learnt the science right. Shame on you US. These children who are taught such non scientific things, would then grow up and keep opposing scientific facts such as global warming. If this is what you are teaching your children then other people would start Islamic teachings in other schools, just like what's happening in England now. Then you would react as if something very horrible is happening. This has to stop now and US needs to teach their children some actual science which is fact based and not religiously biased.
India and US are the countries which have a significant impact on world. It is important for both of them to improve their education systems just for the sake of humanity.
